Overview

The PADI Lionfish Population Control is a distinctive specialty course that was created by Lee Moore to educate divers about Lionfish and their invasion of the coast of the United States and in the Caribbean.  This program will introduce the participants to the habitat of the Lionfish and the ways to live capture, shoot, and document their populations off of the coast of North Carolina.

 

Prerequisites

Prerequisite certification for enrollment is PADI Open Water Diver or an equivalent rating.

15

Class Description

Classroom sessions will cover:

  • Planning
  • Organization Procedures
  • Techniques for shooting Lionfish
  • Techniques for live catching Lionfish
  • Potential Problems and Hazards of Lionfish
Equipment Requirements
  • Full SCUBA including submersible pressure gauge and an alternate air source
  • Compass
  • Dive Knife
  • Whistle
  • Depth Gauge
  • Dive Timer
  • Pole Spear

Cost

$260.00 includes one full day of boat dives.
